NOW IN PRE-ALPHA
LANGUAGE WORKSHOP
Create languages.
Build worlds.
A conlang creator that builds a language from its sound system up to its grammar, every part shaped by your own choices.
A language is more than a list of words. It is a system with its own logic, from the sounds up to the grammar.
Seshat gives you that whole system to create with, and the tools to make it your own.
Word generation
A conlang generator that follows your rules
Seshat is currently free to use and generates words and phrases from the phonology and rules you define, not from a fixed list.
Create a vocabulary that holds together because every word comes from one system, yours. The same engine runs through the rest of your language as you build it out, from names to a full lexicon.
THE WAY IT WORKS
Your whole language, created from your choices
One coherent system
Sounds, words, grammar, and writing are created as one language, each part resting on each other, so the whole thing holds together.
Grounded in real languages
Seshat is built on how real languages work, and measures what you make against them, so what you build feels real.
Created from your own decisions
Nothing in Seshat is pre-written. Every result comes from the choices you make, so no two languages created here come out the same.
Yours to make
Seshat does not use AI to create your language. It follows your rules and decisions, and the creative process stays with you.
The workshop
A guided path, from sounds to sentences.
Seshat moves in the order a language does. Start with phonology, the sound system, then move outward to word structure, grammar, and vocabulary, each section carrying your earlier choices forward.
Phonology is open today and free to use, the other sections will be released after the alpha tests.
Phonology and Writing will remain free to use for everyone.
NOW IN PRE-ALPHA
Start creating your language
Seshat is in pre-alpha, and it is still being built.
Early users get in first, help decide what opens next, and watch their feedback shape the tool.
Seshat's Phonology and Writing sections will remain free for every user.
First, create your free account
Start with Phonology and generate your first words.
Then, join the Discord
Follow the build, ask questions, and meet other conlangers.
You can request an Alpha role
Fill the short form inside the app to join the alpha trials.
Please, share your feedback
Tell us what works and what does not. It shapes what gets built next.

A consistent language for the screen, holding up across dialogue, subtitles, and on-screen writing.
ROADMAP
Where we’re going
Seshat and its language creation ecosystem is built as we go, one fully fleshed out functionality at a time.
Here is what is live, what is next, and what is further out.
- Phonology, with word and phrase generation built on your rules. Free to use
- Clickable IPA chart you can actually hear
- Up to 10 languages in your account, exportable
- Exportable phonetics sheet in several formats
- Writing, how your language looks on the page. Free to use
- Morphology, how words are built from parts
- Syntax, word order and sentence structure
- Historical, an interactive canvas with family tree and timeline of your languages
- Lexicon, names, and pragmatics for your world
- Fuller exports, from your dictionary to grammar
- Names and meaning generation based in your lexicon.
- Public pages that show off your finished language
Thoth is an open source script designer in development connected to Seshat that turns the alphabet and romanisation you define into glyphs you draw for the writing system. Seshat builds how your language sounds. Thoth will build how it looks.

from the developer
Seshat is made by one worldbuilder, building the languages of his own world because the tool he envisioned did not exist.
THE USE OF AI
A craft, not a shortcut
Seshat does not have AI integrated into the app to create your language for you.
The generator is a formula that has been reworked and refined countless times, so every word and phrase traces back to a choice you made and the generation is as accurate as possible.

Questions you may have
-
Seshat is a browser-based workshop app for creating constructed languages. You choose a language's sounds, set the rules for how they combine, and generate words and phrases that follow those rules, with each idea explained in plain language as you go. It is built on how real languages are structured, so what you make holds together like one.
-
No. Seshat does not require a linguistics background. It introduces each idea with a plain-language explanation and a real-language example the moment you need it, and you can hear every sound rather than having to read its name. You learn as you build.
-
No. The generator is an algorithmic formula, not AI. Every word and phrase comes from the sounds and rules you chose, so the language stays yours. The one planned exception, translation into your language, will run on your own definitions, never invent them.
-
Each word is built from a phoneme inventory and phonotactic rules, the same structures real languages use; phrases get the same treatment one layer up. Seshat measures your language against real ones as you build, which is why the output holds together instead of reading as random letters.
-
Seshat is in pre-alpha. Create an account and you can build a sound system and generate words today. To join the trials for the deeper sections, fill the short form in the app and join the Discord, then send feedback as you go. See the roadmap for what is next.
-
Yes. Languages you create in Seshat are yours, including for commercial work like a novel, game, or film. Credit is welcome if you think it fits, but it is not required.
-
Thoth is coming soon, a companion app for designing your script, connected to Seshat.
-
A conlang, short for constructed language, is a language a person builds on purpose rather than one that grew naturally over generations. Well known examples are Tolkien's Elvish, Klingon from Star Trek, and Dothraki from Game of Thrones. Seshat is a workshop for building your own, from its sounds up to its words and phrases.
-
Create a free account and open the Phonology section. Choose your language's sounds from a chart you can click and hear, then set the rules for how they combine. Seshat generates words and phrases that follow your rules, and everything saves to your cloud scriptorium so you can keep building across sessions. It runs in the browser, with nothing to install.
-
It depends on what you want from the process, and there are some great tools out there. Seshat is for building a language as a system: you set its sounds, its rules, and how its words and phrases form, each choice grounded in how real languages work and explained as you make it. If you want the craft and to understand how each decision matters, that is what Seshat is built for.
