This Privacy Policy explains how Seshat Language Workshop ("Seshat," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website at conlangcreator.com and our web application (together, the "Service"). For users in Mexico, this document also serves as our Aviso de Privacidad Integral under the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP).

Information we collect
Information you provide:
Email address, when you join our waitlist or create an account.
Account details, such as a display name, if you choose to provide one.
Content you create, including languages, phonologies, writing systems, lexicons, and related project data.
Payment information, if you purchase a paid feature. Payments are processed by our payment provider, and we do not receive or store your full card details.
Any messages you send us.
Information collected automatically:
Usage and device data, such as pages viewed, browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, and interactions with the Service.
Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies, including local storage used to keep you signed in and to remember preferences, and advertising and analytics identifiers as described below.
We do not collect sensitive personal data (for example, data revealing health, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or political views). Please do not submit such data through the Service.
How we use your information
We use your information for the following purposes.
Purposes that do not require your consent because they are needed to provide the Service or rest on our legitimate interests or legal obligations:
To provide and operate the Service, save and sync your work, and authenticate your account.
To process payments.
To respond to your messages.
To maintain security, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
To analyze use of the Service in order to improve it.
Purposes that require your consent:
To send you waitlist and product update emails.
To show you relevant ads through advertising and remarketing technologies, as described below.
You can withdraw consent at any time, as explained in "Your rights."
Marketing, advertising, and remarketing
We use advertising and remarketing technologies to promote Seshat, including Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). These tools place cookies or pixels on your device and may collect identifiers and usage data so that we can measure our ads and show them to people who have visited the Service.
Where required by law, we set these advertising cookies and pixels only after you give consent through our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw that consent at any time.
You can also opt out of personalized advertising directly:
Google Ads: through your Google Ads Settings.
Meta: through your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences.
Industry tools: the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info), the Network Advertising Initiative, and, in Europe, Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu).
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use three kinds of technologies: essential cookies that are needed for the Service to work and to keep you signed in; analytics cookies, through Google Analytics, that help us understand usage; and advertising cookies and pixels, through Google Ads and Meta, as described above.
Essential cookies do not require consent. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting analytics and advertising cookies, through a cookie banner, and we honor browser based opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where applicable. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
Legal bases (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases: performance of a contract, to provide the Service; your consent, for marketing emails and advertising cookies, which you can withdraw at any time; our legitimate interests, to secure and improve the Service; and compliance with legal obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only with:
Service providers who help us run the Service, including hosting and authentication (Supabase), application hosting (Vercel), the website platform (Squarespace), our email provider (Squarespace), our payment provider (Stripe), and our analytics provider (Google Analytics). These providers process data on our behalf under contract.
Advertising partners, namely Google and Meta, in connection with the advertising and remarketing technologies described above. Under some laws, including California law, this activity may be treated as "sharing" or a "sale" of personal information. See "Your rights" for how to opt out.
Authorities or others where required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
International data transfers
We and our providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or UK, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. Where we transfer personal data internationally from Mexico, we do so in accordance with the LFPDPPP.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as required for legitimate business or legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.
Your rights
To exercise any right described below, email hello@conlangcreator.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by the law that applies to you.
If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR), you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal data, and you may restrict or object to certain processing and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA and CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because we use advertising and remarketing technologies, our use of those technologies may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under California law. You can opt out by managing your cookie preferences via the banner on our site, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you are in Mexico (LFPDPPP), you have the ARCO rights: Access, Rectification, Cancellation, and Opposition regarding your personal data, and you may revoke your consent and limit the use or disclosure of your data. To exercise these rights, send a request to hello@conlangcreator.com including your name, a way to contact you, a description of the data concerned, and the right you wish to exercise. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may contact the Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance (Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno), which is the authority responsible for personal data protection in Mexico following the dissolution of INAI.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@conlangcreator.com and we will delete it. Where a higher age of digital consent applies under local law, that age applies.
Automated decision-making
We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal effects about you or that significantly affect you in a similar way.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
The Service may link to third-party sites that we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If we process your data for a new purpose, we will update this notice and, where required, obtain your consent.
